We may also occasionally send you product surveys or promotional mailings to inform you of other products or services available from Fretwork and its affiliates, though these are rare and we try to keep these to a minimum.
Personal information collected on Fretwork sites and services may be stored and processed in the United States or any other country in which Fretwork or its subsidiaries or agents maintain facilities. By using a Fretwork site or service, you consent to any such transfer of information outside of your country.

Security of Your Personal Information
Fretwork is committed to protecting the security of your personal information. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal information you provide on computer systems with limited access, which are located in controlled facilities. Our personnel who have access to the data have been trained to maintain the confidentiality of such information. When we transmit highly confidential information over the Internet, we protect it through the use of encryption. Note that on our Contact page, we publish our company’s PGP encryption key, which can be used to send us confidential communication.
Internatonal Compliance
In years past, Fretwork self-certified compliance with EU-U.S. Safe Harbor Privacy Principles. In late 2015, however, the European Court of Justice declared that the existing rules for protecting data transferred between the United States and Europe, and were no longer valid. According to the ECJ’s final determination, Safe Harbor was virtually unenforceable since there was no longer any clear way for a company to really guarantee security and integrity.
This gave way to a follow-on program called Privacy Shield that ran from 2016 to 2020. On July 16, 2020, the ECJ issued a judgment declaring as “invalid” the protection provided by the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. As a result of that decision, the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework is no longer a valid mechanism to comply with EU data protection requirements when transferring personal data from the European Union to the United States. That said, the U.S. Department of Commerce will continue to administer the Privacy Shield program, including processing submissions for self-certification and re-certification to the Privacy Shield Frameworks and maintaining the Privacy Shield List.
Fretwork has tentatively self-certified with Privacy Shield:
